BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started using personalized games made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the periodically changed everyday and weekly missions. It features four types of assignments, but where most simply offer skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of getting twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms could shortly earn a place on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

A different forum member pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Workaround

However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

But when tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for completing them in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.

For now, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a more balanced player experience in subsequent patches.
