Students Protest Over AI-Taught University Class: "We Students Might Have Just Used ChatGPT"
Multiple students at a British institution shared strong dissatisfaction when realizing their digital module was predominantly taught via AI.

James and another participant were among over forty students who started a programming module expecting to switch into tech careers through a state-backed apprenticeship scheme.
But their expectations were rapidly reduced when they faced AI-generated presentations being read by an AI voiceover.
When we submitted work that was AI-generated, we'd be expelled from the institution,” said James during a captured discussion with his lecturer.
Multiple Objections and University Answer
Students repeatedly expressed concerns about the AI materials, however the college looks to have persisted using AI-generated materials.
Interestingly, the university has firm guidelines controlling student use of AI, stating that submitting AI-generated work represents academic misconduct.

Obvious Signs of Computer Production
Students detected several signs pointing to computer-created materials:
- Mixed language style between US and UK English
- Questionable file names
- Generic information with sometimes allusions to inappropriate US regulations
- Audio abruptly changing to a foreign accent before returning
Participant Dissatisfaction and Career Anxieties
One student expressed serious concern about his professional prospects, saying he felt “stuck with this course” after putting significant time.
Owen, undergoing a career change, said he had chosen the program for substantive knowledge rather than merely a credential.
“Sitting there with resources that is just not deserving of anybody's time,” he stated, “while you could be devoting that time really participating in something valuable, is really frustrating.”
Despite university statements about upholding educational quality, learners felt the last-minute introduction of human teachers was “too little, too late” to address their basic issues.
