The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first Fall Classic after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 series triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."
George Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I want up in that spot besides him with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but praised their work throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he continued.
Toronto won the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
